So I'm one of those people who absolutely adore their Sundays. Sundays are family days, or homebound days for me, so no pretty brunches on this list. The lazing around in bed, maybe throwing on a face-pack, baking cakes or cookies and sometimes, just sometimes, organising my closet... these are my all-time Sunday loves!
So without further ado, let me share with you a list of all those things that make your Sundays into a resounding Success. Because a sucky Sunday inevitably leads to a sucky Monday, Tuesday...you pretty much get the picture! Also, I'm not including sleep in this list, because that's not a suggestion, it's pretty much a Sunday requisite!
1. Watching Old Movies/ Series/ Family-type Sobfests:
I'm unashamedly declaring my love for Hum Saath Saath Hain, right here, right now. That movie grips me right in the heart and makes me feel that all's crazily-happily-right with the world. And I kid you not, those people at Zee Cinema know me too well. For they play this movie, EVERY. SINGLE. WEEKEND. Yay, Zee!
When I'm not crying my eyes out over HS2H, I'm watching these old re-runs of Perry Mason, Sherlock Holmes, Poirot and Marple. I'm a sucker for period pieces, and once you add the mystery and the detective work, you've got me by the proverbial balls. Youtube's my God, and there's nothing better than watching episode after episode!
2. Catching up with my all-time favourite Blogs/Youtube channels!
I love the written word, and more so, I love people who write well. I also really enjoy keeping up with several Youtube channels, because youtubers inspire me so much, and have genuinely pulled me out of many a funk. So give these blogs and channels a try, which are stupendous, and continue to remind me to keep writing on this blog. :P
- Sara Suri's stupendous health, lifestyle and travel blog: http://melangeofmusings.com/
- My favourite Youtuber of all times: IISuperwomanII: Link <CAN'T BELIEVE I MISSED HER SHOW!>
- One of my recent discoveries, Clevver Style, which is perfect for those girly bouts as they review all the major fashion events and are generally pretty fab :link
- The Filmy Owl on Instagram, because well, she's got the balls to be different and I look upto that! Link
- Love Them Curves and That Boho Girl, for their fabulous sense of style and for setting trends for people of all shapes and sizes!
- And ofcourse, All India Bakchod, Kanan Gill... basically, I don't own a TV and hence, Youtube is all I have. :P
3. DEVOURING books!
Because Sundays are the only day when one has an extended period of time, and I like to spend it reading. I recently acquired a Kindle Paperwhite, and it is a GODSEND! My most recent read is The House that BJ built, by Anuja Chauhan, and boy, was I waiting for it!
Also, Nora Roberts is the best goddamn Sunday read ever! She could write shit, and I'd still read it! Sometimes, if the mood strikes, I also pick up classics on a Sunday, because hey, they need more attention than the normal fiction we have nowadays. Anna Karenina and Candide are the two I've read recently, and they are well worth the effort!
4. Baking!
My kitchen is under renovation right now, so my baking is pretty much at a standstill, but I've been known to whip up pound cakes, cheesecakes, chocolate mousse, banoffees, cookies etc etc. Nigella is my personal favourite when it comes to baking, because she has this no nonsense approach and uses the prettiest words to describe her food.
My dad and I really enjoy cooking different kinds of things, so a good Sunday is also one when he puts a couple of pizzas in the oven or a meatloaf <again Nigella's Recipe> in the oven. A good dash of liquor makes everything taste better- and my Dad's a firm believer of this fact. :P
5. Visiting the Salon:
Can you say Perfect Sunday any louder? What's better than to go to a place with the idea of pampering yourself silly. Truth be told, I don't do this every Sunday and mostly I try to pamper my skin and hair at home with DIY masks and scrubs, but every now and then, a good professional massage never hurt anyone. I usually try to make these into a date with my mom, because that gives us some girly time together and get her to spring for my pampering too. Just kidding, I pay for her too. :P
So yeah, that's how I spend my Sunday. Let me know what you like doing. And I'd also like to know, from all those who like to party on Sunday Nights, just HOW do you do it?
Ciao and Happy Sunday to you!
